Peet’s Coffee is opening at 3401 Fruitvale (right across from Farmer Joe’s). According to the store manager, opening date is mid- to late July.

It was an under-rated bookstore with a genuine commitment to customer service. My guess is that the additional foot traffic now (in between Farmer Joe's and this new Peet's) will encourage interesting businesses to consider this area.
'read an interview with the new Peet's manager in someone's blog. He seems thoroughly committed to making his store a neighborhood-centric kind of place. I know *I'll* be getting my double espresso's there!

I saw this as I was biking to the tennis courts at Dimond Park yesterday. The book store that used to be in that space closed before I moved to the Dimond District. Think Peet's will do better?
