I discovered Berkeley Mini Car recently, after having been told by another highly rated auto repair shop that our Honda Civic needed a pair of remote mirror motor assemblies. The estimate was for a couple of hundred dollars (not a low number of hundreds, by the way). A colleague suggested Honda Mini Car – a thoroughly non-descript place on the corner of San Pablo and Dwight.
‘seems BMC has a reputation of trying to save the customer from needless expenses. They suggested the problem was in a single switch that controlled the outboard mirrors, not the two motors themselves. I walked out, several hundred dollars still in my pocket and a convert to their service.
Mind you—they work on Hondas only.
Minicar works by advance appointment. You check in your car between 8:30 and 9 a.m., or drop it off the night before. They run an informal shuttle service back to downtown Berkeley or BART. Or if you prefer to wait, Caffe Trieste is across the street .
